The Star City is the international astronaut training center. The unique facilities located there help cosmonauts and astronauts to prepare for orbital and suborbital flights. The access to this area is quite limited, so you need to book your tour at least 35 working days prior the visit date.
The program of excursion
The secret town was built nearby Moscow in 1961 in order to have the perfect and well-equiped center to support the Russian cosmonauts. Among the top importance training facilities were the world's largest centrifuge and hydro laboratory.
It was here where the legendary Yuri Gagarin had been training for the first flight of the man in space! Many other famous Russian cosmonauts had been involved in the preparations of this first flight such as German Titov, Alexei Leonov and the first female cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova. We give you quite a unique opportunity to get into the closed Star City, learn its history and see the simulators that Russian cosmonauts use.
During the tour you will see:
- Models of Russian spacecraft "Soyuz"
- Hydro laboratory, with the model of the International Space Station in water, which allows to simulate the weightlessness
- Centrifuge with a radius of 18 meters, the largest in the world
